Rust Survival Experience

Wake on a dangerous island with minimal equipment, then manage hunger, thirst, and exposure while competing for supplies. Wildlife, armed factions, and other survivors make raiding and base defense major parts of the experience rather than optional background dangers.

Survival Loop and Progression

Gather and process resources, construct a defensible base, research technology, farm, and develop electrical or automated systems. Boats and other vehicles support exploration of underwater locations, islands, and abandoned monuments. Cooperate, trade, or fight for resources, with server rules and world resets changing the long-term stakes. Violence and nudity are prominent, with presentation controls available in the PC version.

Modes and Availability

The paid PC game supports Windows and macOS. Rust Console Edition is a separately developed release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with its own servers and update schedule. Both center on online play; playing alone without teammates is not an offline Solo mode. PC and console feature lists should not be assumed identical, and progress does not transfer between PlayStation and Xbox. The linked video is Facepunch’s official 2021 PC trailer.
