Sons of the Forest Survival Experience

Search a remote island for a missing billionaire while keeping fed, hydrated, rested, and warm. Cannibals and mutants make camp defense and cave exploration as important as gathering supplies. The experience includes intense violence, blood, gore, horror themes, and occasional nudity.

Survival Loop and Progression

Craft equipment, hunt and fish, store food, and cut timber for cabins or fortified compounds. Fullness, hydration, rest, and warmth affect available stamina, while winter makes food and resources scarcer. Exploration above and below ground uncovers the island’s story and leads toward an ending. Survival penalties depend on difficulty and custom settings rather than imposing identical starvation or cold damage in every game.

Modes and Availability

Available as a paid Windows game with solo and online co-op play. The full release arrived in February 2024. Co-op players can share supplies and construct defenses together. Peaceful and custom settings change enemy and survival pressures, so a quieter configuration should not be assumed to remove every resource requirement.
