Repair a stranded starship and explore distant planets through crafting, settlement building, and survival-mode food management.
Starbound

Starbound Survival Experience

Begin above an unfamiliar planet with a damaged ship, then gather the supplies needed to explore a generated universe. This adventure-led space sandbox combines construction, settlements, dungeon combat, and a completed campaign with difficulty-dependent food requirements.

Survival Loop and Progression

Gather materials, farm, craft equipment, and build planetary homes, colonies, or space stations. Repair, decorate, and expand the ship to reach new worlds, recruit crew, and pursue exploration or bounty-hunting objectives. Casual characters do not need to eat, while Survival and Hardcore characters must maintain food supplies.

Modes and Availability

Available as a paid released game on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Xbox. Solo and online co-op are supported; the PC feature list also includes online PvP. Xbox Series consoles, Xbox One, and Xbox One X can host four-player parties, while Xbox One S hosts two. Survival drops items on death, and Hardcore uses permadeath. The linked official video accompanies the original 2016 version 1.0 release.
