Subnautica Survival Experience

A crash leaves you on an alien ocean world where food, drinking water, and oxygen limit exploration. Reefs, deep trenches, caves, and lava fields contain resources as well as creatures that can make a return journey dangerous.

Survival Loop and Progression

Scan organisms and technology, craft diving equipment, construct underwater habitats, and develop vehicles for deeper expeditions. Bases provide storage, oxygen, and a place to prepare food and water. Exploration reveals the planet’s infection and ancient structures, leading toward an implemented escape story while leaving room for continued building and discovery.

Modes and Availability

Available as a paid solo game on Windows, macOS, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, with a separate enhanced Nintendo Switch 2 edition also released. Official multiplayer is not supported. Survival requires food, water, and oxygen; Freedom removes hunger and thirst; Hardcore ends the run at death. Creative removes ordinary survival restrictions. Survival and Freedom permit respawn with some carried inventory lost, while Hardcore uses permadeath.
