Subnautica: Below Zero Survival Experience

Investigate your sister’s disappearance in an arctic region of an alien ocean planet. Food, water, and oxygen shape underwater expeditions, while freezing temperatures become an additional threat during journeys across the surface.

Survival Loop and Progression

Scavenge abandoned research stations, scan alien life, craft equipment, and construct habitats. Expand exploration with the modular Seatruck underwater and the Snowfox on land. Cold-weather clothing, warm drinks, and natural heat sources help sustain surface travel. Story clues and alien artifacts connect the survival loop to a completed narrative adventure.

Modes and Availability

Available as a paid solo game on Windows, macOS, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, with a separate enhanced Nintendo Switch 2 edition also released. There is no official co-op mode. Survival requires food, water, oxygen, and protection against cold; Freedom removes food and water requirements; Hardcore allows one life; Creative removes ordinary survival restrictions. Recovery depends on the selected mode, rather than applying one penalty to every playthrough.
